Neighbor lynched on suspicion of sexual assault and poisoning of housewife

Kolkata: A housewife was allegedly kidnapped, sexually assaulted and killed by poisoning in Patashpur in East Midnapore while the alleged accused was lynched by local residents.

The local residents claimed that the victim’s neighbor was involved in the crime. After the death, some angry villagers attacked a person they claimed was the main accused. The person later died in hospital.

Local sources said the housewife was first sexually assaulted and then force-fed poison to cover up the crime. The woman was taken to hospital after she was found unconscious. She later died. It is learned that the housewife’s husband lives and works out of state.

According to the victim’s family members, the woman was kidnapped on the afternoon of October 4 while she was taking cattle to a nearby field to graze. Some time later, when she did not return home, they began searching for her and found her unconscious and her clothes ransacked. She was initially taken to a local hospital and was soon transferred to a private hospital in Tamluk when her condition deteriorated. She died early Sunday morning.

Soon after the news spread, locals barged into the house of the person they believed to be the accused and brutally attacked him. The women beat him with sticks and bamboo. The locals suspected that other people were involved in the crime.

The police somehow managed to rescue the seriously injured person from the crowd and admit him to Egra Super Specialty

To the hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The police have so far found no evidence of sexual abuse or poisoning of the woman. However, the woman was beaten up because of an argument. “We are investigating whether there was a sexual assault or poisoning. “The autopsy will determine the cause of death,” said an investigating officer. A district police official said: “Both incidents are very sensitive. We have launched an investigation into the case. Both bodies have been sent for autopsy.” A police post has been set up in the area where the incident occurred.
