Fake FIR copy accuses Jharkhand minister Banna Gupta of sexual harassment, Ranchi police clarifies

Ranchi: Jharkhand Health Minister Banna Gupta has been falsely accused of sexual harassment in a fake FIR currently circulating on social media. Ranchi Police has issued a press release declaring the viral FIR as fake and requesting people not to believe such false information.

According to police, the fake FIR is being widely circulated on WhatsApp groups claiming that it is a false case against Minister Banna Gupta. Police clarified that the alleged complainant, identified as Pooja Mahto of Salgadi village in Tamar, is a fictitious name used in the document.

Ranchi Police provides a clarification

Police further stated that the fake FIR was intended to look like an official document and even contained a fake seal similar to that of the city SP office. The fabricated complaint accused Banna Gupta of sexual harassment, which was falsely distributed via WhatsApp.

Based on a written complaint by city SP reader Amit Rai, an official FIR was lodged at Kotwali police station against people, including one named Prabhat, and other unknown persons responsible for circulating the fake document.

The Ranchi Police has warned the public to be wary of such fraudulent information and has launched an investigation to find those responsible for preparing and passing on the false FIR.
