Rockets fired from Gaza enter southern Israel ahead of anniversary of Hamas attack – world news

The Israeli military reported that several rockets fired from northern Gaza entered southern Israel on Sunday, just a day before the first anniversary of Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack, the others landing in open areas.

In anticipation of possible escalations, Israeli forces are on high alert as the anniversary of the unprecedented attack by Palestinian militants approaches. At the same time, there was sustained rocket fire from Lebanon in northern Israel, triggering air raid sirens and activating listening systems.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that about 30 rockets aimed at northern Israel were intercepted overnight. Sirens echoed throughout the day along Israel’s western coast, from Haifa in the north to Hadera in the south, signaling the ongoing threat. The situation remains tense as both military operations and security measures for civilians in the region are stepped up.
