Two scientists, Hungarian-American Katalin Karikó and American Drew Weissman, won the Nobel Prize in Medicine last year for their groundbreaking work on messenger RNA, which paved the way for the development of COVID-19 vaccines that have been used by millions during the pandemic of lives saved.
