British leader Starmer’s chief of staff resigns over pay reports – KION546

LONDON (AP) — British Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s chief of staff has resigned, raising concerns that increasing news reports about her role “could become a distraction for the government.” Sue Gray’s resignation comes after recent reports of tensions between her and Starmer’s chief adviser Morgan McSweeney and that she earns more than the prime minister. The BBC has reported that Gray’s annual salary was £170,000, or $223,000, about £3,000 more than Starmer’s salary. Gray said she had accepted a new role as Starmer’s envoy to the regions and nations. McSweeney will replace her as chief of staff in Downing Street.
