Liverpool beat Spurs in a five-goal thriller

Goalscorers: Kapocs 10′, Höbinger 75′ 90+5 (PEN); Hinds (OG) 54′, Hunt 83′

Liverpool celebrated their first win of the WSL season with a dramatic 3-2 victory over Tottenham.

Matt Beard’s side took an early lead when Cornelia Kapocs scored her first WSL goal in some fashion, firing a 30-yard rocket past Rebecca Spencer.

Tottenham leveled the score when Jess Naz hit a cross into the box which unfortunately took a deflection off Liverpool’s Taylor Hinds.

A great free kick from Marie Höbinger put the Reds back in the lead, but the home side fought back again and the equalizer came when Clare Hunt broke into the penalty area and scored with a deflected shot.

There was more drama in this game that had so many twists and turns when Liverpool were awarded an injury time penalty which Höbinger almost sank with the last shot of the game.

Leicester vs Crystal Palace

Lauren Hemp sets record as Man City beat West Ham

Goalscorers: Hemp 10′, Fowler 71′

Manchester City secured a comfortable 2-0 home win against West Ham ahead of their UWCL game against Barcelona in midweek.

England’s Lauren Hemp scored the first goal for the home team with a neat finish from the penalty area.

In the second half, substitute Bunny Shaw showed great composure in the penalty area and crossed to Mary Fowler, who rose well and headed home Man City’s second goal.

Arsenal fought to a goalless draw against Everton

Arsenal once again looked underperformed at home as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Everton.

In the first half, Emily Fox hit a shot against the crossbar and Kyra Cooney-Cross shot just wide.

Everton also had an excellent chance of their own when Veatriki Sarri fired in an attempt from distance, only to be saved by a superb Daphne Van Domselaar, who directed the shot onto the crossbar.

As the clock ran out on the 90th minute, the Gunners pushed for the winner, but Caitlin Foord’s half-volley hit the crossbar.

There’s Champions League action to look forward to next week as Chelsea take on Real Madrid and Man City take on Barcelona.
