This is a summary of crimes and arrests in Coconut Creek through September 30, 2024, compiled through our joint effort with the Coconut Creek Police Department to provide residents with up-to-date information.

Gun on school grounds

Broward County Schools was the victim of a gun attack on school grounds on September 24, 2024 at the Dave Thomas Educational Center at 4960 Coconut Creek Parkway. An 18-year-old student was carrying a 0.5-ounce pepper spray on her keychain. The incident was punishable by a violation of school policy.

Police information at Elliot South on Cocoplum Circle was reported on 09/24/2024. The ex-boyfriend was accused of taking 50 Pokémon cards, a PlayStation 5 and five games.

Criminal mischief

A victim of criminal mischief – vehicle in Banyan Pointe on Wiles Road was reported on 09/24/2024. A car window was smashed.

Fraud

Al Hendrickson Toyota was a victim of a scam on 09/24/2024 – Worthless inspection/recovery of property at 5201 W Sample Road was reported. Four fraudulent checks were attempted to cash.

Exploitation of older people

On September 24, 2024, a victim of elder exploitation was reported in Wynmoor. Allegations of elder exploitation by son.

Threat Assessment

On 09/25/2024 at Lyons Creek Middle, 4333 Sol Press Blvd. submitted a threat assessment report. A 7th grade student made a concerning comment to another 7th grade student.

On 09/25/2024 at Lyons Creek Middle, 4333 Sol Press Blvd. submitted a threat assessment report. A Year 6 student made a worrying comment to another Year 6 student.

On 09/27/2024 a victim of a theft from a motor vehicle was reported in Windsor on Winston Park Blvd N. The total estimated loss was $7,000 in cash.

Walmart was the victim of a theft – retail/shoplifting at 5571 W Hillsboro Blvd on 09/26/2024. The total estimated loss was $3,355.

On September 25, 2024, a victim of a theft from a motor vehicle was reported in South Creek. The total estimated loss was $1,600.

On 09/25/2024 a bicycle theft victim was reported at Publix at 4849 Coconut Creek Parkway. The total estimated loss was $800. An electric black beach cruiser was stolen from the store.

On September 25, 2024, a victim of a theft from a motor vehicle was reported at Coco Parc on Lyons Road. The total estimated loss was $500.

On 09/26/2024 a vehicle theft victim – car was reported at Baywood Village II on NW 22 Street.

Lost/Stolen Property

On 09/25/2024, property loss/theft was reported at The Preserve at Cypress Hammock on W Hillsboro Blvd. A man lost his weapon.

Animal bite

On September 27, 2024, an animal bite victim was reported at Banyan Trails on Stagecoach Drive. A dog bite caused a minor injury to a woman. The dog and its owner were missing when police arrived.

Arrests

Mclennan, Jayden Deen, 18, was arrested on 9/28/2024 for burglary of an unoccupied dwelling at 4100 NW 74 Street.

Albunni, Zaid Mohamed, 18, was arrested on September 28, 2024 for burglary of an unoccupied dwelling at 4100 NW 74 Street.

Nunez, Gabriel Antonio, 18, was arrested on 9/28/2024 on charges of Burglary – Unoccupied Dwelling – Unarmed at 4100 NW 74 Place.

Giraldo, Johan, 18, was arrested on September 28, 2024 for burglary of an unoccupied dwelling at 4100 NW 74 Street.

Colon, Jordan Giovanni, 18, was arrested on 9/28/2024 for burglary of an unoccupied dwelling at 4100 NW 74 Street.

Corbo, Anthony, 60, was arrested on 9/29/2024 at 2201 Lucaya Bend on a charge of domestic violence restraining order.
