  • Firefighters rescue unconscious driver after crash on Route 17 in Bergen County

    Firefighters in Bergen County responded to the scene of a serious two-vehicle crash on Route 17 in Hasbrouck Heights on Saturday, Oct. 5, where they rescued an unconscious driver who was trapped in one of the vehicles.

    The crash, which occurred in the southbound lane near Williams Avenue around 6 p.m., involved a Jeep Grand Cherokee and another SUV. Hasbrouck Heights firefighters arrived quickly, stabilized the vehicles and extricated the unconscious driver from the rubble.

    Photos from the scene of the accident show significant damage to the vehicles. After the rescue, emergency services personnel examined the driver and performed quick drying to collect the fluid that spilled during the accident, the fire department said in a statement.
