Amanda Abbington’s cancer scare was a ‘relief’ after ‘toxic’ Strictly | Celebrity News | Showbiz and television

Amanda Abbington revealed in a shocking new interview that she was relieved that breast cancer scares meant she had a reason to quit Strictly Come Dancing.

The Sherlock star had tried to learn a routine with Giovanni Pernice but “couldn’t concentrate” as she was annoyed by the lumps she found that day and wondered if they could be cancerous.

Giovanni quickly picked up on her mood and reportedly told her, “There’s no point in teaching you this because it won’t go in.” You can’t get it. We’ll be lucky if we get through it because you’re useless.”

Amanda said: “He refused to even look at me, so I went to the toilet, came back and said, ‘I’m going to the hospital now because I discovered two lumps in my breast this morning.'” After she fell as that When the bomb hit, she claims Giovanni was immediately nicer – and she was relieved.

“It was the trigger I was waiting for, which is terrible – but that’s exactly what I was thinking [going to hospital] was a healthier option than being in that room,” she told The Sun. She added: “Okay, I have to deal with this now instead. Phew.”

The bumps, which appeared two months after a mammogram cleared up, were fortunately harmless – but by then Amanda had already stopped for “personal and medical reasons”. She went on to allege “cruel” and “misogynistic” behavior from Giovanni, who she said insulted her because she couldn’t learn dance routines quickly enough.

Amanda says she has had to endure a constant “onslaught of being told you’re not good enough” – and she was also annoyed by a comment about her dancing like a “vegetable”.

He reportedly admitted to using the term in the BBC investigation, but it was not deemed as bullying as the comments about her posture and technique on the dance floor.

However, Amanda was offended, especially because her fiancé, Jonathan Goodwin, who she said Giovanni had met, is in a wheelchair.

The former escape artist suffered paralysis and life-threatening injuries after a stunt went terribly wrong and was lucky to be alive.

The BBC upheld six of its 17 complaints against Giovanni after deciding his comments could be “derogatory, dismissive and offensive”.

However, a spokeswoman for Giovanni told The Mirror: “The BBC completed its review almost a week ago. It is deeply worrying that Ms Abbington appears bent on continually misrepresenting the review’s findings in television and newspaper interviews.”

“Giovanni is concentrating on his work at Ballando con le Stella and supporting his partner Bianca.

“He hopes that Ms Abbington can soon accept the results of the review and look to the future.”
