Jonny Brownlee set to make Super Tri comeback in Toulouse despite late scare – Elite News

Jonny Brownlee will continue his race on Sunday at the Supertri Toulouse, despite a crash while getting used to the bike.

The triathlon legend, who has won Olympic gold, silver and bronze medals, missed the first two races of the series because he got married and then wasn’t quite ready to compete in the third event in London.

The fourth race in Toulouse is planned as his comeback – but a late scare almost jeopardized his participation.

“He’s back on his feet”

Brownlee slipped to the ground shortly after crossing the finish line of the bike course.

The footage on supertri’s Instagram account shows him being cared for by medical professionals. The post reads: @jonnybrownleetri down getting used to it 😧

“He is back on his feet and will be on the starting line in Toulouse.”

This is great news for everyone involved, not least the fans who cheered him on during the team presentations on Saturday.

ground to make up for Brownlee Racing

Jonny and his brother Alistair are part owners of the Brownlee Racing franchise.

Jonny will take on the role of player/manager in terms of overseeing the proceedings, although he will leave all on-site management duties at all Supertri events in 2024 to Non Stanford.

And Brownlee Racing still has a lot to do as they sit last in the team standings ahead of Toulouse and are also without their star Alex Yee, who will miss the event due to his jury duty.
