HYDERABAD: A young man from Prakasam district is said to have died by suicide after he was reportedly attacked by police during an investigation. The incident took place on Sunday in Ponnur mandal where the deceased, identified as Raja, consumed pesticides which led to his death.

Raja, a resident of Parchur village, was employed in a shrimp farm in the area. The hatchery owner accused him of stealing money from the facility. Following the complaint, the police arrested Raja and took him to the station for questioning. During this time, Raja claimed he was physically assaulted by officers, which initial reports suggested caused significant distress.

Family members of Raja claimed that the police attack was directly responsible for his decision to end his life. They protested and demanded strict action against the officials involved.
