Salisbury win at St Albans City after late scare with 7-goal thriller – Salisbury FC

Salisbury FC took all three points back to Wiltshire in the National League South after a 4-3 win against St Albans City.

The first five minutes of the game were very uneventful. Both sides waited for the other to make the first mistake.

In the 6thTh Minute after a break Aiden Elliot-Wheeler brought the ball just outside the hosts’ penalty area where Jordan Thompson had played, his shot was deflected to the feet of just outside the penalty area Josh Hedges who picked out the bottom corner brilliantly.

After the goal, St. Albans had most of the ball. The Hertfordshire team were unable to create any real chances thanks to Salisbury’s determined defence.

In the 22ndnd In the minute, Salisbury threatened the hosts’ goal again. Tom Leggett gained possession of the ball in the middle of the park. The midfielder then ran the ball down the St Albans backline and found Noah Coppin, who brought the ball to the byline and fired a cross towards the back post. However, there was no one there who could sort things out.

A few minutes later, in the 28thTh Josh Hedges scored in the minute Aiden Elliot Wheeler through the gate of St. Albans. The young attacker hit the ball past Michael Johnson, doubling the Whites’ lead.

For a while Salisbury began to break through St Albans’ defensive lines with some ease. A quick and short corner landed at the feet of Josh Hedges, who found the defender Josh Summertons Head; Sommerton headed back over goal to find the far top corner.

Just before half-time the hosts seemed to have had their first chance when a low ball flew in. But Tom Leggett was successful in eliminating the threat and preserving Salisbury’s 3-0 lead until half-time.

The second half began with St. Albans looking for a way back into the game. Two header chances from substitute Makise Evans both went over the crossbar.

There was a bit of a lull for the next ten minutes where not much ground was given. However, after excellent preparatory work, Josh Hedges found it again in the penalty area Noah Coppinwho scored his first goal in the National League South well for the Whites.

Salisbury were unable to maintain their four-goal lead for long as he was substituted on just two minutes later (59′). Makise Evans scored to push the whites back.

After St Albans’ goal, Dutton decided to freshen things up with a substitution. Aaron McCreadie replaced Ryan Penny, who made his first start since recovering from injury.

A few minutes later, Craig Fasanmade came on for Noah Coppin, followed by Ronan Silva for Aiden Elliott-Wheeler.

In the 75thTh In the minute, St. Albans scored another goal, Ken Charles He heads powerfully into the Salisbury goal from a corner.

Although the hosts were on notice, Salisbury managed to keep the St Albans defense on alert with good footwork from Jordan Thomas, who shot over the ball and beat his man.

In a passage of tired-looking football, goalkeeper Michael Johnson passed the ball to Ronan Silva, who tried to throw it into the empty St Albans goal, but it flew wide of the goal.

The fourth official gave six additional minutes. A minute into stoppage time, St Albans made things very interesting. Shaun Jeffers shot a cross to give the hosts a real chance of getting some points.

Dutton once again turned to his bench to bring in an extra defender, Luke Wilkinson, for tired striker Josh Hedges.

Some rough football resulted in the ball falling next to the dugouts to Aaron Mccreadie, Phil Chinedu recklessly went off his feet to bring Mccreadie down and secure his marching orders.

Salisbury finished the final minutes to relieve the nervous support of fellow passengers.
