Fantasy football injury report Week 5: Latest on Anthony Richardson, Joe Mixon and more

The first off-weeks of the NFL season are upon us and that, along with the injuries, is causing turmoil among fantasy football managers. There are more question marks at quarterback, running back and wide receiver this week with the exits of the Detroit Lions, Philadelphia Eagles, Los Angeles Chargers and Tennessee Titans.

Here’s the latest on fantasy football injuries for Week 5.

Fantasy Football Injury Report: Week 5

WR Mike Evans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Questionable (knee/calf)

Evans practiced on a limited basis on Tuesday and there are concerns about the short week. There is no word yet from Tampa Bay’s coaching staff regarding his availability.

QB Anthony Richardson, Indianapolis Colts: Questionable (oblique)

Richardson was limited in practice on Friday. “They’re holding me back today,” he said Wednesday. “Still a little sore, but we’ll see how I feel tomorrow.” He’s optimistic he can return to the lineup for Sunday’s game against Jacksonville.

RB Austin Ekeler, Washington Commanders: Questionable (concussion)

Ekeler missed Week 4 for Washington but said Tuesday he was on track to play Sunday against Cleveland.

WR Malik Nabers, New York Giants: Out (concussion)

Nabers left last week’s game against the Cowboys with a concussion and did not travel with the team to Seattle.

WR Brandin Cooks, Dallas Cowboys: Lost (knee)

Cooks will be out for at least Week 5. He underwent knee surgery after last week’s win over the Giants and is battling an infection in his leg. This is a knee problem that he has had since training camp.

FANTASY FOOTBALL RANKINGS: Week 5 fantasy football rankings: 30 advancers and decliners

RB Jonathan Taylor, Indianapolis Colts: Lost (ankle)

Taylor missed Wednesday’s practice with a high ankle sprain and was ruled out. This is Taylor’s fourth ankle sprain in the last two years.

WR David Njoku, Cleveland Browns: Questionable (ankle)

The Browns tight end practiced for the first time since Week 1 on Wednesday.

WR Christian Watson, Green Bay Packers: Lost (ankle)

Watson suffered an upper ankle sprain in Week 4 but will not be added to the injured list. Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Monday that Watson will be out for “at least a week or so.”

RB Joe Mixon, Houston Texans: Lost (ankle)

Mixon has missed all of the last two weeks with an ankle injury, but Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans said Monday that Mixon is “fit to play this week.”
