Mario Lopez receives a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Mario Lopez, the well-known actor and television host, will soon receive one of Hollywood’s most coveted awards: a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will present Lopez with the award on October 10, Variety reports. This recognition recognizes Lopez’s significant contributions to television, a medium in which he has built a successful and diverse career over decades.

Lopez gets his star in the television category, marking his long-lasting influence on the small screen. The ceremony will be attended by celebrities, with iHeart Media personality Ellen K, who also has a star on the Walk of Fame, hosting the event.

Ellen K is joined by actors Mark Wahlberg, Elvia Lopez and NBCUniversal Local Chairwoman Valari Staab in celebrating Lopez. The official website of the Hollywood Walk of Fame lists them as notable visitors to this special day.

Lopez’s career in Hollywood has been nothing short of remarkable. He became a household name in the early 1990s when he played the role of AC Slater in the hit teen sitcom Saved by the Bell. As a fun-loving, athletic high school student, Lopez captured the hearts of audiences and his portrayal of Slater remains iconic to this day.

Following the success of the original series, Lopez returned to the role in Saved by the Bell: The College Years and played a key role in producing and appearing in the reboot of Saved by the Bell on NBC’s Peacock platform.

While “Saved by the Bell” catapulted Lopez to fame, his acting career continued to blossom across multiple genres. He appeared in critically acclaimed television series such as This is Us and Jane the Virgin, expanding his repertoire beyond his teen sitcom roots.

Lopez also made guest appearances on hit series such as Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Rookie, further proving his versatility as an actor. In addition to his on-screen roles, Lopez lent his voice to the Disney animated series Elena of Avalor, in which he portrayed the recurring character Cruz, a role made even more special by the fact that his daughter Gia also worked alongside him was on the project.
