Police are investigating shootings near 1 Normal Plaza

NORMAL – Police are actively investigating a shooting incident near 1 Normal Plaza Saturday evening.

Shortly before 8 p.m., Sgt. Jordan Krueger of the Normal Police Department said there was no active threat to public safety but confirmed authorities were responding to the incident.

He said there were no reported victims or suspects. Further information was not immediately available.

Posts circulating on multiple social media platforms Saturday night suggested the shooting occurred while the Twin City Tigers football team was hosting the Springfield Bears.

The Twin City Tiger football team said in a comment on Facebook that all members of the organization were safe.
