Statesville man charged with sexually assaulting 4-year-old

Jacob Lee Eugene Johnson, 19, of Lippard Farm Road, was charged with first-degree rape and indecent liberties with a child. His bail was set at $50,000.

The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office reported that an investigation was initiated when the Department of Social Services contacted detectives about a case involving a four-year-old who may have been sexually abused.

Detective Sgt. Amy Dyson of the Special Victims Unit began the investigation.

The child was interviewed at the Dove House Child Advocacy Center and later underwent a medical examination.

Johnson was arrested on Monday. Authorities say there could be additional charges.
