Fire in Milwaukee, police departments hold open house

The Milwaukee Fire Department and Police Department held an open house Saturday to show the public, especially young people, what it means to be a firefighter or police officer.

“We still want to highlight people and show the human side of things,” said Jordan Dickerson, a member of the city’s Fire and Police Commission. “For me, that’s what it’s all about. Not all officers are someone with a gun and a badge, but they are a mother, they are a brother, they are a sister, they are a person who has daily hobbies and activities, and we want to push that more.
