Tooele-Mann, 18, arrested after allegedly arranging fights between youths; Sister was stabbed

TOOELE, Utah, October 5, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) – A Tooele teenager was arrested after allegedly arranging a flight between his little sister and another teen, and his sister was stabbed.

To protect the victim’s privacy, Gephardt Daily is not releasing the name of the arrested 18-year-old man.

The man was arrested by Tooele City Police on the following investigation:

• Criminal solicitation of a minor, a third-degree felony
• Conspiracy, aggravated assault, a felony of the third degree

“Upon arrival, officers identified the juvenile suspect who stabbed the juvenile victim. When questioning the juvenile suspect for Miranda, the juvenile suspect revealed that (the girl’s older brother) had arranged the fight between the victim and the suspect. The young suspect told the arrestee that he would have stabbed the victim and had a knife with him if there had been an argument.

“The juvenile suspect then advised that (the arrested man) continued to annoy and arrange the argument over a phone call between the juvenile suspect and the victim. It was discovered that the victim was the little sister (of the arrested man). The juvenile suspect then advised that (the arrested man) was present when the fight between the victim and the perpetrator began.

The injured youth “provided me with messages between her and her brother (in which he continued to upset the youths by exchanging insults between the two youths). The victim (the arrested man) stated that he saw the fight and did nothing.

“Video footage of the incident provided by the victim showed a visible knife and bystanders to the fight verbally indicating that a weapon was used during the course of the altercation. The video also showed that the teenage suspect had stabbed the victim multiple times. At no point in the video provided did (the arrested man) attempt to intervene. An interview with (the arrested man), post Miranda, in which he confirmed that he knew there was going to be a fight and that he acknowledged the messages.”

It is not clear from the charging documents how extensive the stabbed girl’s injuries were.

The arrestee was held on $5,000 bail.
