NYC Crime: Teen stabbed on Brooklyn subway track to prevent backpack theft, police say

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn (WABC) — A teenager was stabbed on a subway platform in Brooklyn as he tried to stop a man from stealing his backpack.

According to police, the 17-year-old was on the southbound platform 3 at the Utica Avenue and Eastern Parkway stop shortly after 9 p.m. Friday when the man grabbed his backpack.

The teen says when he tried to get the bag back, the man hit him in the shoulder with a knife.

He was taken to hospital where his condition is stable.

The suspect fled the scene.
