All-Ireland champion Glen survives the horror

All-Ireland champions valley had a huge scare in the Derry SFC quarter-final before fending off Lavey with a score of 1:11 to 0:13 in Owenbeg.

In a low-scoring first half, the in-form Ethan Doherty scored a crucial goal just before half-time, giving Watty Graham’s a 1-03 to 0-04 lead.

However, by the 40th minute Lavey had equalized and Malachy O’Rourke, recently appointed Tyrone manager, and his players were in a bind.

The exciting game continued as Emmet Bradley and Niall Toner exchanged points and the underdogs took the lead with just two minutes left.

However, Glen showed why they are champions as they fought back and Conleth McGuckian secured the win late in extra time.

Cuala finished like a train and secured their place in Dublin SFC for the first time since 1988 after a 0-16 to 1-08 victory Ballymun at Parnell Park.

Paddy Small punched Ballymun into the lead three minutes later and a Dean Rock free-kick and a fine point from James McCarthy put them two ahead with 20 minutes to go.

However, Cuala finished the half strongly as Cillian Dunne cut inside and kicked over, giving them a 0-07 to 0-06 half-time lead.

The early stages of the second half suggested a tight finish as the teams were level with 20 minutes to go, but Cuala – with Con O’Callaghan leading the way – scored eight points in a row to get to the line.

Ballymun did score in stoppage time through Dean Robertson but it was only a consolation as Cuala now awaited winners from Kilmacud and Na Fianna.

Dunshaughlin are the first team in the 2024 Meath SFC final after a narrow 0-11 to 0-10 victory Dunboyne.

It is their first appearance in this premier class since 2011, with the team narrowly winning in a game played in windy conditions.

The teams scored twelve points in the first half, with Ruairí Kinsella responsible for three of Dunshauglin’s goals, and the same player gave them the lead for the first time three minutes into the second half.

A couple of free throws from Donal Lenihan gave Dunboyne the lead midway through the second half, but Kinsella scored again and equalized before Aaron Murphy put them ahead again.

Lenihan equalized again for Dunboyne but it was Luke Mitchell who had the final say to send Dunshauglin on.

Padraig Pearses had little trouble reaching their first Roscommon SFC final since 2021 after a 1-09 to 0-03 victory St Faithleachs.

The Pearses had the wind in the first half and were five points clear before Jack Tumulty put St Faithleachs ahead in the 18th minute, and when Darren Nerney brought them back to within four points straight after the restart they were right on target.

However, from then on it was one-way traffic and Declan Kenny’s goal ended their challenge.

Clan na Gael qualified for their second consecutive Armagh final as they fended off a Drive crazy Catching up with 0:14 to 0:12.

The Lurgan side made a stunning start, scoring the first seven points to take control before Mark Harte and Adrian O’Donnell’s side trailed by just five points at half-time, 0-09 to 0-04.

At the resumption the deficit was quickly reduced to four points but the Stefan Campbell-starring Clans scored another goal to lead 0-13 to 0-05 with 15 minutes remaining.

From then on they would have been pushed back, but another goal from Campbell in the dying moments sealed their place in another final.
