The Children and Family Center hosts the annual Purple Walk

The Child & Family Center hosted its annual Purple Walk in Canyon Country on Saturday morning to support victims of domestic violence.

On Saturday morning, the Child & Family Center hosted its annual event Purple walk and have managed to raise over $50,000 and are grateful for the presenting sponsor, Hello Subaru.

“We are here to help and serve our community. We have a 24-hour hotline that victims can call if they need help. We have a shelter to place children and families when they need to escape a dangerous environment, but more importantly, we offer hope and healing,” said Nikki Buckstead, CEO of the Child & Family Center.

More than took part in the event 300 community members, starting with a delicious pancake breakfast carefully prepared by the SCV Rotary.

This program provides vital Help for survivors and their children in Santa Clarita and Palmdale by providing refuge from family violence.

The Child & Family Center offers a range of services including a 24-hour crisis hotline, immediate response in coordination with law enforcement and hospitals, crisis intervention, safety planning and a 30-day emergency shelter exclusively in Santa Clarita.

Survivors receive material and emotional support throughout their recovery journey, including access to free counseling, food and clothing supplies, legal advice for restraining orders, court accompaniment, and transitional housing assistance.
