Third annual railroad exhibition and swap meet with models of “lifelike” trains on display

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – Train and railroad connoisseurs headed to West Ridge Mall Saturday morning for a show like no other.

The third annual railroad show and swap meet was held and began at 9 a.m. Saturday morning.

There were a number of different sized models on display and several vendors offered train and railway-related goods.

Organizers of the event said there are no limits to creativity when it comes to model trains and railways, emphasizing that if you can dream about it, you can build it.

“Come here and see what you can do, what is available, what you can buy, what you can build yourself. Learn here, start here. It just makes life interesting. You are not on the same narrow sidewalk that you walk down every day. When you come to a train fair, everything expands. You see what other people are doing, what’s available and what’s possible, and a lot of things click,” said Lawrence Bouray, president of the Topeka Model Railroaders.

The train show continues tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. upstairs at West Ridge Mall
