Where to Watch Packers vs Rams: TV Channel, NFL Kickoff Time, Live Stream, Spread, Odds, Week 5 Prediction

Two of the NFL’s most creative offensive minds and strongest quarterbacks will face off in Southern California as the 2-2 Green Bay Packers take on the 1-3 Los Angeles Rams.

Green Bay head coach and offensive lineman Matt LaFleur and Los Angeles head coach and offensive lineman Sean McVay are both descendants of the Shanahan lineage and worked as assistants under Mike Shanahan on his coaching staff in Washington from 2010 to 2013. LaFleur also served as offensive coordinator for McVay during his first season as Rams head coach in 2017.

Where to see

  • Date: Sunday, Oct. 6 | Time: 4:25 p.m. ET
  • Location: SoFi Stadium (Inglewood, California)
  • TV: CBS | Electricity: Paramount+ (click here)
  • Opportunities: Packers -3, O/U 48.5 (SportsLine consensus)

Both are maximizing their plans to make life easier for their starting quarterbacks, Jordan Love of the Packers and Matthew Stafford of the Rams. McVay’s Rams (77.8%) and LaFleur’s Packers (76.4%) utilize motion at the two highest rates in the entire NFL. This is a big deal.

“The more speed that happens pre-snap on the offensive side of the ball, the more stress is put on the defense,” Luke Kuechly, former five-time first-team All-Pro linebacker and 2013 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, said on the podcast “ Move The Sticks” on Wednesday. … “It [motion] makes running really difficult because you can’t get downhill. All your movements as [line]The supporter is sideways. The stress on the defense is caused by the movement before the snap and the speed at which it is executed [offenses] do it.”

Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed, who leads the NFL in yards per target (15.3) and yards per carry (15.2, at least five carries) this season, has played in an NFL-high 62 games, according to LaFleur’s Pro Football set in motion focus. Reed has nine touchdowns for 100 yards and two receiving touchdowns, tied for the most in the NFL after receiving the football after action began, including a 33-yard rushing touchdown in Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles. It’s no coincidence that Love has a perfect passer rating (158.3) at Reed in 2024, completing 11 of 14 passes for 277 yards and two touchdowns.

With Love missing two of Green Bay’s games this season, LaFleur turned the Packers into a highly competitive team as they average 174.5 rushing yards per game, second-best in the NFL, after finishing 15th in the league last season . (112.1 rushing yards per game. Los Angeles spent its first two picks in the 2024 NFL Draft to replace three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald in edge rusher Jared Verse (first round) and interior defensive lineman Braden Fiske (second round) from Verse’s quarterback pressure rate with at least 50 pass rushes is the second highest in the NFL, trailing only Aidan Hutchinson (25.3%).

However, Love could pick apart Los Angeles’ defense because even though they rank fifth in quarterback pressure rate (39%), they don’t get to the quarterback quickly enough. They have just seven sacks, ranking 26th in the league, and are 29th in average time to pressure (2.7 seconds), 30th in average throw time allowed (3.1), according to PFF ) and 22nd place in sack rate (6.4%). The Rams are also the second-worst scoring defense in football (28.8 points allowed per game) and the second-worst overall defense (385.3 total yards allowed per game) in the entire league.

On the other hand, Green Bay’s defense has wreaked havoc under new defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley. They lead the league with 12 takeaways and are tied for eighth in sacks (13.0). This take-home metric is based on safety Xavier McKinney, who the Packers signed in free agency this offseason as he leads the NFL with four interceptions, one in each game. If he intercepts Stafford on Sunday afternoon, McKinney would become the first player since the AFL/NFL merger to record an interception in each of his first five games with one team.

Given the Rams’ long injury list, Sunday could be a long day for the home team.
