Police officer dies in traffic accident; CM announces 25 lakh solatium to relatives

A 36-year-old police constable died in a road accident in Manali after he fell off his bike, skidded on a potholed road and crashed into a stationary truck.

Police said the victim, identified as Lakshman, 36, of Tondiarpet, was working as a police chief in the Ennore traffic police. He left the house early in the morning to go to work. While he was riding his bike, it skidded near CPCL in Manali after hitting a pothole and crashed into a truck parked on the side of the road. The police officer suffered serious injuries as a result of the impact. Other police officers on duty came to his aid and took him to Government Stanley Hospital in an ambulance. However, he died without responding to treatment. Further investigations are ongoing.

CM announces Solatium

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Saturday condoled the death of Lakshman, a traffic constable of Ennore police department.

Lakshman’s death is an irreparable loss to his family and the Tamil Nadu Police, Mr. Stalin said and announced a compensation of ₹25 lakh to Lakshman’s family.
