A Highland High School student has been arrested for a school shooting, according to police

HIGHLAND, Ind. – A high school student in northwest Indiana was arrested Friday after admitting to threatening a school shooting on social media.

The Highland Police Department was contacted Friday afternoon by an outside state agency investigating a threat against Highland High School.

Local police identified the suspect as a current student at Highland High School. The student was brought in for questioning and admitted making the threat.

The student was charged with intimidation and taken to the Lake County Juvenile Center in Crown Point. The student has not been publicly identified because he is under 18 years old.
