Former Goose Creek firefighter charged with child sexual exploitation

GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) – Goose Creek Police have confirmed that a city firefighter has been fired after being charged with sexual exploitation of a child.

Wayne Leonard Sammons, 40, is charged with first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, Goose Creek Police Chief LJ Roscoe said.

Sammons was arrested Wednesday, she said.

Roscoe confirmed that Sammons was employed by the Goose Creek Fire Department and was terminated “on the spot” upon his arrest.

She said the investigation is ongoing but authorities have not yet released details about what led to the charges.

Sammons was held at the Hill-Finklea Detention Center. Bail had not yet been set as of Saturday morning, according to the jail’s website.
