CAPE CARTERET, N.C. (WITN) – A man is behind bars on animal cruelty and firearms charges after a dog was reportedly shot last Friday.

Cape Carteret police said they received a report on Sept. 27 that a golden retriever dog had been shot after leaving its enclosure.

Police say this happened in the area of ​​Bob White Circle.

After further investigation, officers said they arrested Gheorghe Lucian of Cape Carteret.

According to police, Cormos is charged with animal cruelty, discharging a firearm in urban areas and acting armed to terrorize people.
