Taylor Swift arrives at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 4, 2024. The Baton Rouge Symphony’s next performances in its “Concerts with Candles” series will be “Taylor Swift” on November 21st and 22nd.

Plan your tickets now for the next performances in the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra’s “Concert with Candles” series, “Taylor Swift,” featuring Rebecca Smith accompanied by a guitar quartet, on November 21 at 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m Secure pm -22 at the Cary Saurage Community Arts Center, 233 St. Ferdinand St.

Open House

The Louisiana State Archives is hosting an open house on October 9 to learn more about the meticulous work the highly trained staff is doing for Louisiana. Attendees take a tour of the stacks to view highlighted collections, see how important records are processed, and learn how artifacts from Louisiana’s history are preserved. The tours start at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Louisiana State Archives.

The open house will also feature an exclusive look at the archival exhibition, “America’s Last Fair: The 1984 Louisiana World Exposition.” This exhibition showcases the creative engineering and artistic talents of Louisianans who entertained visitors from around the world from May to November 1984. “America’s Last Fair” will be on view through December 13th.

At the LSU Museum of Art

The LSU Museum of Art at the Shaw Center for the Arts, 100 Lafayette St., will open “In a New Light: American Impressionism 1870-1940, Works from the Bank of America Collection” on Oct. 18; and “Rembrandt, Goya and Dürer: The Miracle of Old Masters” on October 31st.

Hila Plitmann at LSU

Tickets are available for a performance by internationally renowned soprano Hilá Plitmann with the LSU Wind Ensemble, LSU Symphony Orchestra and LSU A Cappella Choir on October 15 at 7:30 p.m.

Plitmann has an extensive repertoire that includes everything from Bach and Handel to Thelonious Monk, Frank Zappa and Björk. She has performed worldwide in venues from Buckingham Palace and the Vatican to Carnegie Hall and has been a soloist in film scores by Hans Zimmer, The Da Vinci Code and Pirates of the Caribbean. Halloween workshop

The free First Sunday Fall/Halloween Crafts Workshop program will be held at the Old State Capitol of Louisiana, 100 North Blvd., on October 6 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Bring the whole family and get creative with Halloween and fall crafts. Special guests from the Baton Rouge Key Club will be on hand to support the program.

“Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” at Theater Baton Rouge
