Two shootings in less than an hour left one dead and one hospitalized – first state update

Wilmington police are investigating two separate shootings Thursday night that left one man dead and another injured.

The first shooting was reported in the area of ​​West 7th Street and North Monroe Street around 6:43 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 19-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital where he is currently in stable condition. Authorities have not yet released any further details about possible suspects in the case.

Nearly an hour later, around 7:22 p.m., officers responded to another shooting, this time in the 100 block of West 30th Street. A 29-year-old man was found with gunshot wounds and immediately transported to the hospital in critical condition. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, the victim later succumbed to his injuries.

Wilmington police have not confirmed whether the two shootings are related.
