North Miami Beach gas station shooting of 20-year-old still unsolved – NBC 6 South Florida

Not a moment goes by when Maggy Belizaire Lopez doesn’t think about the fact that her daughter, 20-year-old Junisha Niclasse, isn’t by her side.

“She’s not a daughter, she’s like a mother, a sister,” Belizaire Lopez said, fighting back tears. “We do everything together… She was my life.”

It’s a life that she says hasn’t been the same since May 17th.

“I heard screaming,” the mother recalled. “I heard, ‘Call the police’.”

That day, she got the call that Junisha had been shot at a gas station in North Miami Beach.

“I was in my office,” she said. “I fell on the floor.”

According to investigators, this happened on NE 159th Street and NE 18th Avenue.

Police are investigating a fatal shooting in North Miami Beach on Friday evening.

According to police, a second person was also shot but survived.

Junisha’s car was full of bullets and shattered glass.

“I don’t want other parents to go through the pain I’m going through right now,” Belizaire Lopez said. “It’s really painful. Parents shouldn’t bury their child, a child should bury their parents.”

Almost five months later, the shooter still hasn’t been caught.

“For me it’s like a nightmare,” says Belizaire Lopez.

Police say this is still an active case.

Belizaire Lopez says Junisha studied nursing and also worked with her as a real estate agent, but says her daughter’s greatest passion is dancing.

Junisha spent much of her time as part of a local dance team.

“She was a perfect daughter. “Perfect daughter,” she said. “She was very responsible and respectful.”

The mother says her daughter also pushed her to run for North Miami Beach city commissioner.

She says Junisha should be her campaign manager and treasurer.

“It was her idea. She said, ‘Mommy, you’ll be good at this. There is too much crime in North Miami Beach,” said Belizaire Lopez.

As she continues to wait for justice, the mother urges the shooter to come forward.

“Please, whoever killed my daughter, turn themselves in,” she said. “Please, I’m begging you to come forward.”

Belizaire Lopez says her daughter was ambitious and dreamed of becoming a gynecologist.

Anyone with information should contact the North Miami Beach Police Department at 305-949-5500.
