Annual capacity test for Sahiwal coal-fired power plant completed

The annual capacity test of Sahiwal coal-fired power plant, a flagship project of CPEC, has been successfully completed. The plant operated by Huaneng Shandong Ruyi proves its reliability and efficiency (Pakistan) Energy Pvt. Limited has exceeded its allocated capacity of 1243.517 MW by achieving a remarkable output of 1245.3 MW during a rigorous six-hour full-load endurance test, it said in a statement issued here.

The capacity test was monitored by officials from key government and regulatory agencies, including the Central Power Purchasing Agency-Guaranteed (CPPA-G). National Energy Control Center (NPCC) and the National Transmission and Shipping company (NTDC). The event highlighted the exceptional performance of the Sahiwal Power Plant, which has been in commercial operation ever since October 28, 2017. Huaneng Shandong Ruyi (Pakistan) Energy Pvt. Limited was represented by a team led by chief engineer Wu Xiaolong, operations manager Gao Guangxin and other senior officials including Chen Han and Xu Huabin. Their combined expertise ensured the facility met and exceeded performance benchmarks.

The successful completion of the capacity test was praised by government officials and industry leaders alike. NPCC officials praised Huaneng Shandong Ruyi for maintaining exemplary operating standards and emphasized the power plant’s role in providing active and reactive power to meet national grid needs. Officials from Yousafwala and Kasowal grid stations appreciated the positive impact of the Sahiwal power plant on grid stability, which has significantly contributed to the reliability of power supply in the region.
