Anti-LGBTQ+ Valentina Gomez danced at the Drag Race star’s show

Resurfaced video footage of controversial Republican candidate Valentina Gomez, who has urged voters not to be “weak and gay” and called drag queens pedophiles, shows her dancing RuPaul’s Drag Race Star show.

Gomez, who ran unsuccessfully for Missouri secretary of state in August, became a controversial figure on the campaign trail because of her offensive diatribes and stunts. Among other things, she showed how she burned LGBTQ+ literature with a flamethrower and attacked Democrat Barbara Phifer for having a transgender grandchild.

Now a video that shows Gomez dancing at a New Year’s Eve party at New York’s Hudson Yards shopping center RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 10 winner Aquaria provided entertainment, shared with LGBTQ Nation.

In a statement to the publication, Gomez confirmed the video’s validity and added an insult in her response.

“You call me homophobic and an enemy of the pronoun community, but I’ve been waiting for this video to surface so I can show your hypocrisy because obviously I had a great time and got along with everyone.

“I don’t care how you identify, shaking your genitals in front of children would land you in prison. Make the pedophiles afraid again.”

Gomez made a similar statement to PinkNews. She said: “If I dance at a party it’s controversial, but if a pedophile shakes his genitals in front of children it’s considered normal.” Shit are the problem and you don’t like it because I’m displaying your pedophile behavior .

“My hips don’t lie and neither do I. leave it Dancing with the stars I know I’m the only one who can shock their ratings and make them great again.”

Gomez’s defeat in the Missouri primary, where she finished sixth out of eight candidates with about 7.4 percent of the vote, followed a campaign filled with homophobic and transphobic slogans and conspiracy theories.

In February, she claimed she was “censored” after a video of her burning LGBTQ+ books with a flamethrower was removed from Instagram.

“That’s what I’m going to do with the nursing books when I become Secretary of State,” she said in the video. “These books come from a public library in Missouri. When I’m in office, they’ll burn.”

The two books she set on fire seemed to be the ones Queer: The Ultimate LGBTQ Guide for TeensAnd Naked: Not your average sex encyclopedia.

Three months later, she shared a video of herself jogging through a historic LGBTQ+ neighborhood while telling voters not to be “weak and gay.” The clip, which tagged controversial influencer Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan, then showed a photo of Gomez proudly holding a gun before focusing on her “Woman on a Mission” campaign poster.

In June, she took to social media to attack Phifer, a former United Methodist minister who now sits in the state House of Representatives and is still in the race for secretary of state, writing, “You have a transgender grandchild.” This means you raised a dog groomer. You have failed your children, and you have failed your grandchildren. Besides, you are irrelevant and belong in a nursing home.”

That same month, Gomez suggested that basketball star Brittney Griner was anti-American and called her an unpatriotic lesbian.

“Brittney Griner should be rotting in a Russian prison and not going to the Olympics,” Gomez said in the 20-second clip.

She captioned the post: “The Olympics is about meritocracy, not DEI [diversity, equality and inclusion]“.

Griner was held in Russia for 10 months after she was arrested in February 2022 when authorities found e-cigarette cartridges containing hashish oil in her luggage. The WNBA star was sentenced to nine years in prison for drug offenses, but was released in December 2022 as part of a prisoner swap that also involved arms dealer Viktor Bout.
