But there were a few trends that stood head and shoulders above the rest – food safety, sustainability and wellness. Food and beverage manufacturers have been racing to create a safer and more sustainable supply chain and support the health and well-being of consumers.

Fight against fake food with Chemmetric Brain​

Fake food is a major problem for the food and beverage industry and they are working hard to address this problem. Enter the chemometric brain. This clever software is able to analyze food right down to the packaging and confirm that the food is exactly what it claims to be. Additionally, it can help brands maintain quality control of their products as ingredient content can be verified.

Sensip-dx makes food safety more efficient​

Food safety is another serious issue affecting the food and beverage industry and is high on the priority list for manufacturers. The problem? Security checks remain relatively slow, which in turn slows down the production process. This is where Sensip-dx comes into play. The Dutch start-up is innovating with its new technology to improve food safety. The technology, developed at Maastricht University, uses embossed polymers that are applied to a small metal disc. This sensor detects the binding of bacteria using thermal measurements. It can also distinguish between live and dead bacteria, detect the presence and concentration of bacteria, and provide results in just 15 minutes.
