Police search suspect after stabbing, kills one, injures another

ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) – Asheville police said they are searching for an armed and dangerous suspect after a stabbing left one man dead and another man injured Thursday morning.

Police were called to Short Michigan Avenue about 7:06 a.m. about the stabbing.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man dead from his injuries. The other man suffered knife wounds to the neck and was taken to the hospital, police said.

The suspect, 27-year-old Raqwean Jarrel Savage, was charged with first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill with great bodily harm.

Savage is 1.70 meters tall, 27 centimeters tall and weighs 90 kilograms. He has a tattoo on his upper right arm that reads “EST 1997” and another tattoo of praying hands on his upper left arm.

He is believed to be in the West Asheville area near Kentucky Avenue and State Street.

Police said anyone who sees Savage should not approach him but should call 911 immediately.
