Halle Bailey and DDG announce separation after two years

Halle Bailey and DDG have split after more than two years together, the rapper announced via an Instagram Stories update on Thursday.

DDG – born Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr. – addressed “friends and supporters” in a message revealing that after “much consideration and heartfelt conversations,” the two have decided to go their separate ways.

“This decision was not easy, but we believe it is the best path forward for both of us. “I cherish the time we spent together and the love we shared,” he wrote of his relationship with The Little Mermaid star.

He continued: “Despite the changes in our relationship, our love for each other remains deep and true. We are still best friends and love each other. As we focus on our individual journeys and our roles as co-parents, we cherish the bond we have built and the beautiful moments we have shared.”

The rapper and singer first sparked relationship rumors nearly three years ago when they were spotted at Usher’s Las Vegas residence in early 2022.

The couple made their relationship public when the rapper celebrated Bailey’s 22nd birthday in March, before later walking the red carpet with her at the 2022 BET Awards.

After initially denying she was pregnant when fans claimed she had a “pregnancy nose” last November, Bailey confirmed the birth of her son Halo in late 2023 when she welcomed him in an Instagram post in January.

“Even though the New Year is only a few days old, the greatest thing 2023 could have done for me was bring me my son. Welcome to the world my halo 🥰👼🏽 ✨The world is dying to meet you 😉 🤣♥️,” Bailey wrote alongside a picture of herself holding her son’s hand with a gold bracelet.

“My biggest blessing by far 👶🏽❤️ son son.. never been more in love 🥹 baby halo,” DDG wrote alongside a similar picture on social media at the time.”

Halo joined the two as they celebrated Bailey’s 24th birthday in Hawaii in March. After a summer vacation in Italy, they finally shared snaps of their baby’s face for the first time.

DDG and Bailey also faced breakup rumors in April after they unfollowed each other on Instagram. A representative for the singer confirmed that the two were still together at the time.

DDG asked for “understanding and support” in his Instagram message on Thursday as the two “manage this transition” following their breakup.

“Thank you for your love and encouragement,” he wrote.
