Dispute over sexually transmitted diseases leads to woman being hit in the head: Cleveland Heights Police blotter

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio –

Disturbance: Noble Road

At 8:30 a.m. on September 27, police were called to a woman’s home where an act of violence occurred between the woman and a man who was no longer at the scene. The woman told police that the man used to live with her and occasionally came back to visit.

The man spent the night and in the morning, when she left for work, they argued about her sexually transmitted disease and who she might have gotten it from.

The man hit the woman in the head and took off her work shoes. He then told her that everything would be solved if she performed a certain sex act on him.

The woman went into the toilet to call the police. The man broke the bathroom door handle, entered and tried to hit her with hair clippers. Then he left.

The woman’s only visible injury was a small scratch on her cheek.

She told police she didn’t want to press charges against the man but also didn’t want him to return to her home.

Trouble with Neighbors: Beverly Drive

On September 27, police received a written online statement from a woman who expressed concern about threats her husband made while walking the dogs at 6:45 a.m. that day.

The woman said as her husband and dogs were walking, they came across another dog, which caused her dogs to bark. Her husband calmed the dogs by telling them to calm down.

A male resident on the street was upset by the noise and allegedly came to the door of his home saying he would “put a bullet through a dog’s head” and making other threatening comments. The incident, the woman said, caused heartache for her family.

Police spoke to the neighbor, who denied any threats. He said he was sleeping and the barking woke him up and he just told the woman’s husband, “Really?” At 5:30 in the morning?”

An officer told the man to call the police if there was future unrest.

Domestic Violence: Overlook Road

On Sept. 28 at 8:15 p.m., police were dispatched to a home on Overlook Road where a woman was attacking her sister. Officers learned that the two women were in the bedroom of their recently deceased mother.

They chatted as things heated up. One of the sisters was about to leave when the other sister, who was known for her bad temper, ran after her and stopped her. She then grabbed and scratched her sister’s face, punched her in the head and banged her head against a wall.

A woman, a family friend, who was packing up the house’s kitchen utensils, heard the argument and stopped the attack.

When police spoke to the victim, blood ran down her cheek. She said it was the second time her sister had attacked her and blood had been drawn.

The victim signed a complaint against her sister for domestic violence and assault. The suspect had left the house before officers arrived.

Dropping the firearm: Dresden Street

On September 28th at 10:40 p.m., officers responded to reports of shots fired near Dresdener Street. Police learned that a fight broke out between a large group of people as people were leaving a wedding reception at the Caledonia Community Center, 960 Caledonia Ave.

A witness on Dresdner Strasse reported to the police that around 15 people initially argued, then around 20 more joined in. Another witness said a man appeared to try to break up the fight by raising his arm and firing four shots into the air. Another man then fired two shots into the air.

Those men then collected some of the shell casings from the street, but officers found a few more.

Two Dresden women told the police that they heard the shots and immediately climbed to the floor of their houses.

A witness told police that some of those involved drove away in a vehicle with Wisconsin plates. The police are looking for the license plate number.

Theft: Lee Road

On September 28 at 11:20 p.m., police were called to CVS/Pharmacy, 2160 Lee Road, on a report of a shoplifter. A man in the store had alerted a clerk that a man was shoplifting.

The officer told police the suspect was acting “weird.” She and the male customer followed the suspect, who told the clerk he wasn’t “going anywhere” and that she should “call the police.”

By the time police arrived, the suspect and the male customer had already left the store. Both were found at a nearby bus stop. When an officer approached them, they both began yelling at the police. The male customer told police that the man had stolen items from the store. The suspect said the other man had his backpack with him.

Police determined the 54-year-old suspect was likely under the influence of drugs because he was sweating and had glassy eyes.

Police found $74.44 worth of stolen CVS merchandise and a crack pipe in the suspect’s possession. He was arrested for theft and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Hit Skip: Caledonia Avenue

On September 26 at 8:20 p.m., a woman reported that her car was side-swiped while parked on the street on Caledonia Avenue. The woman was visiting her family when someone told her that her car had been hit.

She went outside and the car that hit her was stopped right in front of her vehicle, a Ford Explorer. As she approached the car, it was driven away. She told the police the license plate number of the car.

Police identified the male owner but were unable to contact him.
