Hello Myha’la. industry is back with its third season and is receiving rave reviews. How did a show about an investment bank become the coolest thing on TV?

The show is set in a financial world but is very dramatic. And people love big drama. There’s a lot of interpersonal drama that we love. On the other hand, there is of course always a lot at stake in the world of finance because there is so much money involved and the potential to change the market and the geopolitical fabric of society. Big drama, high stakes. And who doesn’t like watching people squirm?

Why do viewers like Harper so much when her fellow characters think she’s a sociopath and narcissist?

I can’t speak for everyone, but as a Harper fan, I speak for myself: I think people see her as a go-getter and an ambitious person. People see her as an outsider in her environment – I think most people support the outsider. And regardless of how she gets there, she’s playing a game that everyone else around her is playing.

Maybe the fact that she does some morally questionable things also makes people like her a little. Maybe that’s why. She has an uncompromising attitude about many things. Sometimes I wish I had more of it!

So, are you reading this? Financial Times and now keep up with the stock markets?

I definitely don’t read financial magazines or financial news. On a very superficial level, I kind of understand what’s going on in the show. But beyond that, it’s completely over my head, and I’m happy to admit it!

At home in New York you have two Siamese sister cats, Natalia and BANG BANG. Do they miss you when you’re filming in Cardiff? industry?

Oh my God, they really do. My fiancé says that after being away for three or four weeks they get pretty confused. They are actually lap cats and love to sleep on us. When I’m here, I always have both of them with me. So when I leave, they need a bit of time. But if they ever realize that I’m not coming back, they’ll sleep on him.

When you get home, will you still be recognized when you walk through the door?

Oh yes. Strangely, they recognize when my key opens the door and when his key opens the door. If it’s me, they’ll come running to the door. If he is, they come halfway to the door. But especially when it’s time to eat, they come running pretty quickly.

Do you stay in touch with them via FaceTime?

My partner is really good at sending pictures etc because he knows I miss them and am losing my mind. We had a baby monitor that I could access while filming in Wales – which I did often. I’m definitely a crazy cat mom who loves looking at them while they sleep.

When you spoke to THE FACE two years ago, you revealed that you liked Sunday roasts. What do you think makes a great Sunday roast?

They have to be duck fat potatoes. I can’t have this…what’s it called? It’s like the bread? Yorkshire pudding. Yes, because I can’t eat gluten. If I could it would definitely be a Yorkshire pudding, but I resort to the potatoes instead. Food technology has gotten to the point where there should be gluten-free Yorkshire puddings.

We just need to spread more awareness and they will be on the menu.

Listen: I agree. What was the best thing about attending Miu Miu’s AW24 show at Paris Fashion Week?

The whole thing was incredible, it was great. But when I got to shake Ms. Prada’s hand and look into her eyes, I was pretty impressed.

Do you have a favorite tattoo?

There’s one thing I often forget because I can’t see it. It says on my lower back, on the left side of my buttocks Cadillac,” in honor of my grandma who gave me her Cadillac when my car was totaled in high school. I’m sure people will find it bizarre. But I like that.

Dream actor at your wedding?

Chaka Khan.

And finally: what makes you happy?

Watching a movie or TV show with my fiancée and having dinner with our cats. For me there is nothing better than that.

Season three of industry is now showing in the US on HBO and in October on BBC1
