College Station police respond to the shooting at John Crompton Park

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – College Station police responded to a reported shooting at John Crompton Park Thursday evening.

According to CSPD Public Information Officer David Simmons, a group of about 15 people were playing basketball when a fight broke out. He said someone pulled out a gun during the fight and reportedly fired about seven or eight shots.

No deaths or injuries from firearms were reported, but one person was evaluated at the scene for injuries related to the fight.

Simmons added that the person who fired the shots has not yet been identified, but other people who were at the scene were cooperative and spoke to police.

He said the situation was isolated and there was no concern for the public.
