Garth Brooks responds to rape and sexual assault allegations

Garth Brooks has issued a statement after being accused of rape and sexual assault by a hair and makeup artist. She accuses him of “ugly acts” for money.

On Thursday evening (October 3), Brooks responded via CNN to the allegations, which were made public after the woman, identified as “Jane Roe,” filed a lawsuit on Thursday.

Just before 9:45 p.m. ET on Thursday evening, an update was made to CNN’s original reporting. Brooks’ full statement, according to the outlet, is as follows:

“For the past two months, I have been harassed endlessly with threats, lies and tragic stories about what my future would be if I didn’t write a multi-million dollar check,” he explains.

What is Garth Brooks accused of?

Two alleged incidents are detailed in Jane Roe’s lawsuit, obtained by CNN and detailed by TMZ.

The first event is said to have taken place – according to TMZ chronology – in early 2019. “Roe,” who is not given her real name, says she was at Brooks’ house when he came out of the shower naked and grabbed her hands and forced them on his genitals. She says he also used language that was sexual in nature.

A second incident reportedly occurred in May 2019 when Brooks was booked to perform a Grammy tribute to Sam Moore in Los Angeles. She claims she and the star were the only two people who flew to California on a private plane — which isn’t everyday, she notes — and when she got there, she was surprised to find that Brooks had a one-bedroom hotel suite had booked. In the suite, Roe said, Brooks stood in the bedroom door, overpowered her and raped her.

CNN adds that Roe claims Brooks physically groped her and told her sexual fantasies during the time she worked for him. Since 1999, she was a long-time make-up artist for Brooks’ wife Trisha Yearwood before she started working for Brooks in 2017.
