Springfield police end three-hour standoff without finding a suspect

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WICS) – A standoff with Springfield police ends with no one being taken into custody.

According to police, the person they were looking for was not in the house.

The standoff lasted about three hours, but it turned out that it wasn’t really a standoff.

Officers believed a suspect in a previous shooting was at this mobile home in the Pinewood Mobile Home Community, just off Grand Valley Drive.

Officers were out here before 2 p.m

We’re told they’re looking for the person involved in a shooting in the medical district this afternoon.

According to police, the suspect’s vehicle was parked outside the mobile home.

After getting permission from the homeowner, officers searched the house and the abandoned mobile home next door, but both were empty.
