1 dead in crash on Highway 169, SB Lanes Open

A fatal accident involving a large truck causes a traffic jam in the northbound lane of Highway 169.

According to the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, the southbound lanes of US-169 at 36th Street have reopened following the crash.

All northbound lanes of US-169 are still closed between Pine St. and 36th St. N. due to an accident. Northbound traffic will be detoured at Pine.

The highway is expected to be closed for several hours, most likely impacting the evening commute. Owasso drivers should plan to take an alternate route over the next few hours as officials investigate the scene and safely reopen the road.

Tulsa police confirmed it was a fatal accident and there was a lot of debris on the road. The truck involved in the accident apparently crashed into the center barrier, sending large rocks and gravel onto both sides of the highway. The driver of the truck was killed in the accident.

Motorists should expect delays for northbound and southbound traffic on Highway 169 and possible road closures.
