Country singer Garth Brooks is accused of sexual assault

Grammy-winning country singer Garth Brooks has been accused of rape and sexual assault in a lawsuit filed by a woman who said she worked for him as a hairdresser and makeup artist.

The lawsuit, filed Thursday in California under the pseudonym Jane Roe, alleges that Brooks, 62, raped and “beaten” the woman on a work trip in 2019.

A representative for Brooks did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Weeks before the complaint was filed, an anonymous “celebrity and public figure” believed to be Brooks filed a preemptive lawsuit in Mississippi, asking the court to declare the woman’s claims untrue and hold her to it to prevent them from being published.
