62-year-old Carlos man critically injured in ATV accident – Alexandria Echo Press

CARLOS – A 62-year-old Carlos man was critically injured in an ATV accident on Thursday, Oct. 3, around 1:30 p.m.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Leonard Hintzen was traveling east on Fairfield Creek Road when a dog ran in front of his SUV. Hintzen reportedly attempted to apply the brakes but ended up hitting the dog and subsequently lost control of his ATV. He was thrown from the ATV.

According to the sheriff’s office, Hintzen was transported to Alomere Health in Alexandria for life-threatening injuries before being flown via LifeLink III to a nearby medical facility.

The accident occurred near 12058 Fairfield Creek Road NW, about four miles east of Carlos. The report didn’t say what happened to the dog.

Responders on scene included the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and North Memorial Ambulance, as well as other emergency personnel.
