Man sentenced to 10 years RI for sexually assaulting an underage boy

A 32-year-old man, who was arrested by Saroornagar police for sexually assaulting a minor boy at a minority hostel in Kothapet, has been sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment.

The accused, Mohammed Abdul Majeed, who worked as a maid at the hostel, was found guilty of sexually abusing a minor student in 2018. While hearing the case, the special court for POCSO cases on Thursday sentenced him to 10 years rigorous imprisonment for sexual harassment and a fine of ₹16,000. The victim boy was awarded compensation of ₹5 lakh.
