12-year-old girl died as a result of injuries sustained in a six-car accident in September

SALT LAKE CITY – A 12-year-old girl died from her injuries following a multi-car crash on Sept. 24.

According to investigators with the Salt Lake City Police Department, a six-car accident occurred in the Ballpark neighborhood on Tuesday, September 24, at approximately 6:20 p.m. The accident occurred at 280 West 1700 S.

A 12-year-old girl was reportedly critically injured in the accident. According to police, paramedics took her to a local hospital where she later died.

“Salt Lake City Police only learned of her death this week and had to take appropriate steps to confirm the information,” the department said in a statement.

The girl’s name will not be released.

Police said all drivers are cooperating with the ongoing investigation.

Police reported that this accident was the ninth traffic-related fatality in Salt Lake City in 2024 and that there have been ten traffic-related fatalities in Salt Lake City as of October 3, 2024.
