Officers found and arrested 55-year-old Danny Lowry Jr. after he escaped the officers last week in Seward.

Lowry was being held in connection with a shooting that killed 51-year-old Billie Cubley.

Preliminary findings from the Alaska Bureau of Investigation show that Lowry tried to take a gun away from Cubley after she threatened to shoot herself, according to a report Troop dispatch.

The release said several Kenai Peninsula SWAT troopers and police officers participated in the initial search, but it was called off shortly thereafter.

Officers forwarded the fourth-degree escape charge to the district attorney’s office.
