A Donegal man, 30, has been tragically killed in a workplace incident in Australia

A Donegal man killed in a workplace incident in Australia has been named locally as Barry Breslin.

Barry Breslin, 35, from Straleel, Kilcar, is believed to have been killed after he was hit by an excavator while working in Perth.

According to the Western Australian News Agency, he suffered serious head injuries and was taken by ambulance to Royal Perth Hospital but died a short time later.

Mr Breslin was a father of one and had lived in Australia for several years.

The obituary for Mr Breslin states: “The tragic death of Barry Breslin occurred following an accident in Perth, Australia.

“Beloved father of his son Tommy.

“Sadly missed by his loving fiancée Melissa, his parents Mary and Seamus, his brothers Owen (Beth & Hazel) and Shane (Gerard).

“House private until further notice.”

Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

A tribute from his local GAA club in Kilcar said the community was in shock following Mr Breslin’s death.

“CLG Chill Chartha would like to extend our sincere condolences to Barry’s fiancée Melissa, his son Tommy, his parents Seamus and Mary, his brothers Owen and Shane, and his entire family and his many, many friends.

“It came as a huge shock to all of us when we received the news of Barry’s untimely death in Australia this morning.

“Barry played for the club at an underage level for many years and is fondly remembered by the players and everyone involved at the time. “Also to his mother Mary, a tireless volunteer and supporter of our club over the years, our thoughts are with you and your family and we extend our prayers to you all at this sad time.”
