1 was arrested after searching for an armed carjacking suspect in Trumbull

According to Trumbull police, a shelter in place was lifted for the Unity Road neighborhood at 1 p.m. Thursday following a search for a carjacking suspect who is now in custody.

Police informed the public in a social media post around 10:30 a.m. that they were conducting a search on Unity Drive, Saybrook Road, Partridge Lane, Windmill Lane and Priscilla Place.


Police say the incident stemmed from a car theft in another city.

Officials said a male suspect was arrested, but a second person escaped and was believed to be armed.

A shelter-in-place notice was sent to residents in the area through the Trumbull Citizen Alert system.
