Convicted sex offender now charged with years of sexual abuse of a boy

A convicted sex offender is now accused of sexually abusing a boy in Calcasieu Parish over several years, beginning when the victim was about 15 years old.

Gregory E. Ballard, 61, of Lake Charles, is charged with molestation of a juvenile. A judge set bail at $500,000.

He was already in the Allen Parish Jail after his Aug. 29 arrest on separate charges.

Detectives with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit received a report from the Allen Parish Sheriff’s Office on August 18 informing them that Ballard had sexually abused a child in Calcasieu Parish.

During the investigation, the victim told investigators that abuse occurred on multiple occasions over several years, beginning when he was approximately 15 years old. On September 30, investigators issued an arrest warrant for Ballard.

Ballard was convicted of indecent conduct with a juvenile in 1985, aggravated oral sexual battery in 1988 and indecent conduct with a juvenile in 1996, all in Calcasieu Parish.

The investigation is ongoing. CPSO SVU Detective Cory Myers is the lead investigator on this case.
