The School of Rock star makes a heartbreaking confession about Kevin Clark three years after his tragic death

A Rock school Star has paid an emotional tribute to her late co-star from the 2003 hit on the anniversary of the track’s release.

It’s been 21 years since the release of the iconic film, in which Jack Black plays a struggling guitarist who becomes a teacher and inspires his class to form a band to compete in an upcoming competition.

They call themselves The Rock schoolwho compete and bond with one another in what is arguably one of the best feel-good films of the 2000s.

The film stars Joan Cusack and Sarah Silverman, among others, while Miranda Cosgrove stands out as the most successful face of the child actors.

As if you didn’t need another reason to watch the film again, it boasts an impressive 92 percent critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, while calls for a sequel have neither stopped nor diminished in over 20 years.

Today it is 21 years since the film was released in cinemas, but a dark cloud hangs over the memories of many of the cast.

On May 26, 2021, Kevin Clark, who played the rebellious drummer Freddy, was released Rock schoolHe tragically died in a traffic accident.

He was cycling through Chicago when he was hit by an oncoming vehicle, and his former co-stars quickly took to social media to pay their respects.

Black said he was “heartbroken” while Cosgrove said she was “stunned and saddened,” although former child star Rivkah Reyes, who played bassist Katie, took it the hardest.

Reyes, who uses they/them pronouns, wrote at the time: “I will never forget your hugs and your laughter and the pure joy on your face when we met in Chicago.”

The 32-year-old has previously admitted that she hated re-watching the film as she unfortunately suffered from anxiety and started feeling “insecure about everything” after having to re-watch the film so many times.

However, to mark the film’s 21st anniversary, they wrote a tribute to Clark on Instagram: “I always think of my brother Kevin Clark on this day. He has always been very protective and supportive of me from day one.”

“While it’s a shame not to have him here on Earth, I just said to Joey the other night that Kev is still such a good bandmate/friend in the great unknown.

“Sometimes I hold his sticks close to my heart when I’m heartbroken or have writer’s block. It somehow always cheers me up.”

Reyes’ post included several throwback photos of not just the couple, but the entire cast.

They previously said they were “grateful” that the film was their “first acting experience” due to the “group of incredibly talented and kind people” they got to work with.

They added: “It’s not always like that on film sets. We all really just wanted to make a great movie and we loved each other so much.”

“I’m so glad I still get to call this cast my family,” they said – it’s always nice to see the cast still get along.

Then Rivkah said goodbye: “ILYSM School of Rock Family – and to our fans, thank you for supporting us for so long. It warms my heart that you still love our film to this day.”
